Deployment

Here we discuss deploying the app to Azure.

Alternative deployments to Heroku or Now are really easy, just follow the steps on any reputable article.

Deploying to Azure

Create an Azure Linux virtual machine and connect to it via SSH.

Install node.js and npm.

$ sudo apt-get install nodejs
$ sudo apt-get install npm

Install Yarn.

$ curl -sS https://dl.yarnpkg.com/debian/pubkey.gpg | sudo apt-key add -
$ echo "deb https://dl.yarnpkg.com/debian/ stable main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/yarn.list
$ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install yarn

Git clone the repository.

$ git clone <https://repository.git>

Install the project dependencies. This can take a couple of minutes...

$ npm install

Build the project.

$ npm build

Run the server. This will run the server on port 80, therefore it's necessary to use sudo.

$ sudo npm start
